Youth Vocal Workshop

Friday 19th August 2016, Gippsland Grammar, Sale, VIC.

Directors of Opera in the Alps and Opera Scholars Australia, Graeme and Margot Wall, are excited to announce an opportunity for 60 young singers in a Youth Vocal Workshop, proudly sponsored by The Linnell/Hughes Trust managed by Perpetual.

The singers will primarily be drawn from existing primary and secondary school choirs but also the local community.

Directors of the program, former opera singers, educators and founders of Opera in the Alps, Graeme Wall and Margot Cory-Wall, will deliver vocal warmups and coaching alongside our Trainee Conductor, Rachel Amos. Participants will then work as a full chorus and in small groups with the Scholars teaching them the repertoire, encouraging and supporting good vocal technique in a dynamic, stimulating and supportive environment.

Participating singers will receive music in advance and a visit from the OSA music team before the end of the year. At the workshop, expert tuition will consolidate singing skills and simple choreography will be taught. All catering will be provided.

At the conclusion of the workshop, auditions will be held for several fully funded places at the OSA Summer School in Beechworth, 15-22 January 2017. Successful applicants must be 18 years of age by January 2017. Please contact Lucy Belfrage if you would like to put forward any candidates.

COST

There is no cost per student for this workshop as OSA has the support of The Linnell/Hughes Trust managed by Perpetual, to fund this workshop. There is a registration fee of $50 per school that will also cover morning and afternoon tea for the students.
