RECIPIENT OF THE HARDY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Thomas Harvey (tenor) completed his Bachelor of Music (Honours) , studying with Carrie Barr. In addition to being a current scholar of Opera Scholars Australia, Thomas is a part of the Songmakers Australia Young Songmaker Development Program for 2018, and is a recipient of a Melbourne Bach Choir scholarship for the 2018 season.
During his studies, Thomas appeared in various university productions, most notably being the 2017 performance of Monteverdi's 'L'Orfeo,' conducted by Erin Helyard and directed by Jane Davidson. He was praised for his 'stand-out voice… whose charming legato tenor sound, and expressive face and action made his role memorable.’ (Janette Wells, Classic Melbourne, 17 September 2017)
Thomas also had the opportunity to spend a year at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, USA., during his university education. He appeared in the CCPA Conservatory Chorus, directed by Dr. Cheryl Frazes-Hill, performing Schubert's Mass No. 5 with the Illinois Philharmonic. Thomas has a particular interest in Japanese Western-style art song, and looks forward to exploring this repertoire further.
